Ola Al-Qaradawi (55 years) and Hosam Khalaf (58 years) have been unjustly detained in solitary confinement in Egypt for over 460 days. They were arrested in Egypt on Friday, June 30, 2017. They have not been tried or change since. Their detainment has been and continues to be renewed every 45 days since without due process.

Ola has become the longest female political prisoner held in solitary confinement in Egypt, as she spends 23 hours a day in a windowless cell, deprived of proper food, access to a washroom, and any communication with her family or a legal team. The verbal and physical abuse is ongoing. According to Amnesty International, her conditions amount to torture. The UN High Commissioner along with UN HRC Working Group on Arbitrary Detention have demanded for their immediate release.

Ola and Hosam are legal permanent residents of the United States and their children and grandchildren are American citizens. The American government must step in to restore Ola and Hosam's most basic and fundamental human rights that they have been wrongfully, and unjustly deprived for what has come to be almost a year now.
